Review: L’Oreal Hydra-Total 5 Ultra Fresh

About a week ago, Influenster was kind enough to send me the L’Oreal Hydra-Total 5 skin care line to try out. I was a bit reluctant to test this line out since my skin had a habit of breaking out or being overly sensitive with new products. My boyfriend even joined in on the fun to try out the new skincare line since the products he’s using isn’t helping him very much.

The Benefits:

L’Oréal Paris laboratories created Hydra-Total 5 Ultra-Fresh routine, designed specifically for normal to combination skin. The Ultra-Fresh Toner removes impurities and tightens pores in oily-prone areas for fresh-feeling skin that is toned. Skin stays clean and complexion looks fresh. Skin remains visibly soft, smooth and even.

Performance:

It started getting a lot colder in Canada and my face started feeling a little dry from the weather change. I felt that my skin felt fresh from using this line but it’s not as hydrating as I thought it would be. The good things about this line is the cleanser and the gel moisturizer. I felt the cleanser worked great cleaning up my skin of impurities and making it glow. The gel moisturizer felt really similar to Skin Food Aloe mask which I really liked so this was a good replacement for a everyday use. However the toner was not my favourite. The smell really bothered me and it felt like I was using nail polish remover. If the smell was different I might have liked this more.

However, for my boyfriend his skin was not as dehydrated as mine. It was flaky and dry around the nose and after a day use his nose was hydrated. In the morning, there was no skin flaking off and he was amazed with the products. He asked me multiple times what it was called so he could purchase it after we finished using our sample.

Value:

The prices listed below are from Walmart, it’s definitely one of the cheapest skin care products I’ve used/tried.

Cleanser: $8.47
Toner: $8.47
Gel Moisturizer: $12.97

Verdict:

3.5/5 –  I didn’t like the toner but I really enjoyed the cleanser and gel moisturizer. I will be purchasing this again once I finish and this has become my morning routine. As for the toner, I just use the Tsuya from Shu Uemura in the morning instead.

4.5/5 – My boyfriend really enjoyed using this skin care line and have started using it day and night. It improved his skin a lot and I’m glad he tried these skin care products with me.
