Review: L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Rock Mascara

For the past two years, I’ve lived on samples from Sephora and gift bags. I may have tried 20-30 different mascaras actually and the results all seemed the same to me after a few hours – straight.

If you have eyelashes like mine you might know the difficult struggle with holding a curl. You go through many mascaras – only to be frustrated that they weigh your eyelashes down or make them straight again.

During the summer, I discovered L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Rock mascara when I browsing through Rexall. It was on sale – $7.99, I thought ‘hey why not?’ It turned out to be the best purchase I ever made.

I wanted to wait a few months to see if the results would be the same and if my opinion would change – it hasn’t. I have now turned to one of those girls that always curl their eyelashes and use mascara since I bought this.

The Benefits:

Mega texturized volume for lashes. The mascara is the first L’Oreal Paris 360° spiked brush and texturizing formula load explosive volume at roots and stretch lashes into pointed tips. To create punky tips, group lashes by holding the brush vertically and moving it in a back and forth motion again the lashes.

Ingredients:

Water, Paraffin, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Acrylates Copolymer, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Steareth 2, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Acacia Senegal Gum, Ethylenediamine/Stearyl Dimer Dilinoleate Copolymer, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Sodium Hyaluronate, 2 Oleamido 1,3 Octadecanediol, Panthenol, Silica, Soluble Collagen, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate, Atelocollagen, May Contain (+/-):, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Carmine (CI 75470), Mica

Performance:

In the morning before work (sorry for the poor lighting, I tried to photoshop it so that it’s easier to see the eyelashes):

After 10 hours of wear:

As you can see the curl was holding and there was hardly any flaking. I coat my eyelashes twice with a little bit of work so that the eyelashes won’t clump together.

Value:

Original price in Canada is $9.96 at walmart. For me, this is one of the cheapest make up item I buy for my routine and would gladly spend the money since they hold my eyelashes.

Verdict:

4/5 – Although you have to be careful with the mascara or else you will clump your eyelashes. I still think this is worth the little effort since my eyelashes are stubborn. This is the first mascara that will hold the curl for more than a few hours.
